Abstract:
This research focuses on the characters of the “nouvelles” of the French writer Daniel Boulanger. To carry out our work, we organized our thesis in three complementary parts. In the first part, we examined the role and status of the character in the story, which are determined by his being and his doing. To do this,
we used the work of narrative semiotics of Greimas. The second part relates, primarily, the theme of the Double, as a narrative strategy that meets the character incompleteness. The thematic and analytic approaches seemed to be essential and relevant. The last part of the study is based on the poetic character “boulangérien”,
the reading and study of the few constants characterizing it.
