Abstract:
This study attempts to dig into around the epistemological and thought origins of
the theory of meaning in the Arabic critical thought so as to explore the nature of
its methodological structures and to determine the great sources from which it has
drawn its theoretical framework ,scientific maxims ,and general laws. The study
aims at the presentation of a longitudinal scientific assessment of the important
developments of this theory and the determination of its different directions of its
impact on different sciences. Moreover,it seeks to spot some epistemological
patterns it has chiseled in its path towards maturation and perfection. The
impressions of this theory first appeared in language science and syntax being
« functional » sciences. Then, i twas extended to theology ,rhetoric and literary
criticism in patterns and levels that are convergent in origins and divergent in
branches. The present study has revealed the existence of two priciple eras in the
history of the theory of meaning : the first one represents the oral tradition in the
practice of both science and critism, which represents the first nesting
evironment in which the big maxims and great ideas of these theories have been
found, and the second one represents the era of critical and scientific theorization
the momentum of which has increased since the writing phase.Since the era in
which arabic thought has entered into writing consciousness , sifting operations of
the big maxims and general ideas have been conducted ,where scientific and
critical circles got involved since the second century of islamic history in
transforming these ideas and maxims into theoretical concepts credited with
epistemological competence and interpretative potential of the phenomena and
the themes falling withing its scope be it through the laws generating and creating
meaning or through the tools of its reading, interpretation, and exegeses .These
