Abstract:
In this work we are concerned with the preparation and characterization of porcelain. Different formulations of porcelain in various proportions have been studied to evaluate their ability to be used for industrial purposes.
The main conclusion to be drawn from this work is the possibility of the preparation of porcelain, from local raw materials. At the beginning, we have followed one method of crystallisation; a solid state reaction. Relying on this.0 method, we studied the influence of addition of small amounts of TiO2 and Al2O3 on sintering and crystallisation of the compounds. We have used aluminium hydroxide and talc in order to crystallize other compounds like mullite and corundum and cordierite.
In addition, we have studied some properties of the compounds based on X-ray diffraction, DTA, MEB, FTIR, etc. These compounds can be used in electrical insulation.
