Résumé:
This work makes part of our research program of Algerian medicinal plants of the
genus Centaurea (Compositae).
Studies that we undertook concern the determination of flavonoids and sesquiterpene
lactones of the genus Centaurea calcitrapa.
This work completes our pervious results of flavonoids and sesquiterpene lactones of
the genus Centaurea calcitrapa.
The extraction and purification of the different constituents, based on the use of a
combination of chromatographic methods, and their structural determination,
performed by physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods, such as ultraviolet and
nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, allowed us to isolate six simples flavonoids
derivatives: Eupatorine, Eupatiline, Jaceosidine, Cirsiliol, Hispiduline and Apigenin,
and one sesquiterpene lactones: Cnicin were also isolated from aerial parts of this plant
These compounds were already reported from this plant but the three aglycons
(Eupatorine, Eupatiline, and Cirsiliol) were described for the first time from this plant.
