Etude phytochimique et évaluation des activités biologiques des espèces algériennes Athamanta sicula L. et Ferula longipes Coss. ex Bonnier et Maury (Apiaceae)

Abstract

This work deals with phytochemistry and biological study of aerial parts of two species belonging to the Apiaceae family: Athamanta sicula L. and Ferula longipes Coss. Extraction, separation and purification by chromatographical methods of Athamanta sicula L. led to the isolation of eight compounds. Similary this procedure yield to eleven compounds from Ferula longipes Coss., one of which has a new structure. These compounds were identified by the combination of spectroscopic methods including: UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, high resolution mass spectrometry, RMN 1D and 2D, as well as comparison with literature data. The pure compounds and the ethyl acetate fraction of F. longipes Coss. showed an excellent antioxidant activity compared to the standards. The petroleum and butanolic fractions of the species Athamanta sicula L. showed a moderate anticholinesterase activity against AChE. The pure compounds of the species Athamanta sicula L. showed a moderate cytotoxic activity.
