Abstract:
"Our phytochemical and biological works concerned the aerial parts of two endemic Saharian
species belonging to Asteraeae family: Matricaria pubescens (Desf.) Sch. Bip. and
Chrysanthemum deserticolum Batt. &Trab., collected from Ghardaïa.
Several chromatographic methods were used in our experimental works which allowed us to
isolate eleven products from the butanolic extract of Matricaria pubescens from wich three
are new, and twenty six products from Chrysanthemum deserticolum from wich seventeen
were identified and among wich one was isolated for the first time from a natural source.
Structures were determined by different spectral methods: nuclear magnetic resonance with
different applications (NMR 1H, NMR -13C, DEPT, COSY, HMQC, HMBC and NOESY),
the mass spectrometry, UV, as well as comparison with literature data.
Butanolic and ethyl acetate phases of the two studied species together with two flavonoids
(luteolin- 7-O-β-D-glucoside and 4 `-O-methylisoscutellarein-7-O-[6''-O-acetyl-β-D-glucosyl-
(1→ 2)-β-D-glucoside]), isolated from Matricaria pubescens, showed an excellent
antioxidant activity, by the use of DPPH and ABTS methods."
