The inclusion of sustainable development in construction requires the creation of new materials
or optimizing existing materials. The use of recent concrete repairs in the field of urban and
underground structures virtually exploded in recent years. In this area the further development of
knowledge is greatly conditioned.
Through an awareness for the environment, the past decade has seen increasing use of natural
fibers as reinforcements in composite materials for the manufacture of biomaterials. The use of
composite materials made of natural fibers (unparticular vegetable) that are renewable,
recyclable, and sustainable is one of the correct answers in order to safeguard the health of man,
to meet its needs for well-being and comfort and reduce environmental impacts.
The purpose of this research is to study the advantages and disadvantages of introduction of plant
and synthetic fibers in self compacting concrete. Several types offibers (hemp, boon,
polypropylene), are incorporated in the composition of SCC to get qualified for self-compacting
as recommended by the AFGC, to study their behavior under different aspects(delayed, under
temperature rise, and in an aggressive environment).
Our experimental work has led us to conclude that:
- The mechanical performance of SCCF decreased slightly compared to non bundles SCC
assuming water adjustments and superplasticizer, but still within the ranges of concrete.
structures.
-Vegetable fibers reduce the coefficient absorbency of the mixture from the non bundles with
values close SCC.
-For dimensional variations, plant fibers limit the phenomenon in different conservation mode.
- Bundles BAP (hemp, boon) behave well as polypropylene and SCC non bundles under a
temperature rise.
-For durability, the drying-wetting cycle is very effective to accelerate the aging of the samples
of concrete, the mechanical performance (residual compressive strength and tensile strength) of
the various mixtures are reduced mainly by the bending tensile strength, but this decrease varies
from one to another concrete, For example SCC with polypropylene and hemp give lower
results, but they remained within the acceptable ranges
So we summarize the self-compacting concrete with vegetable and synthetic fibers exhibit
acceptable and effective results in certain properties, such as with drawal, behavior under
elevated temperature and in aggressive environments.
