The present study was conducted in the Djebel El Ouahch massif, in Constantine. Opposite to
the uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources which leads to the deterioration of the study
area mentioned above, a study is realized and has a main objective which is to grasp the
complex degradation of the forest and to submit proposals for its development. The aim of our
work is to reflect on an integrated and sustainable management approach in an
agrosylvopastoral system, takes into account both its constraints and its potentialities. The
consultation of previous research in the massif and the completion of a field survey, allowed
us to have a good understanding of the situation. Indeed, the location of the ravine areas and
the socio-economic situation of the inhabitants is a preliminary step to any appropriate erosion
control. This shows that the erosive phenomenon in this zone results from the combination of
several factors: aggression of the rains, erodibility of the soil, stiffness of the relief, weak
vegetation cover and inappropriate agricultural practices on steep reliefs. Thus, to achieve a
more or less acceptable ecological balance, it is necessary to undertake the erosion control
works proposed by technical measures (correction of gullies), biological (reforestation) and
socio-economic and the study of cultural and forestry suitability of the massif. According to
the results of the diagnosis, the vegetation cover is very low, the soil erosion is strong, the
dam is silted, The study shows the urgency to curb the degradation, any action aimed to
restore the ecological balance.
