dc.description.abstract |
The practice of translation is as old as human beings are. However, it has become nowadays a dire necessity with the emergence of the new systems of communication and information, which are becoming more and more sophisticated. Thus, to cope with such rapid exchange of information, translators are needed more than ever in maintaining cross-cultural communication and achieving international understanding. Nevertheless, the demand for competent translators and interpreters overcomes the supply. This is why researchers’ efforts have recently been centered on improving a proper training.
Meanwhile, a large number of approaches dealing with translators training agree on the fact that the subject matter of translation is texts rather than languages, i.e. when translating, we translate texts. Thus, teaching translation is supposed to be focused on teaching texts intended for translation.
Within this framework, the present study aims at shedding some light on the reality of didactics of text translation in Algeria through the department of translation at the University of Constantine. Our objective is to know to what extent the followed programs and the teaching methods are suitable to the
