dc.description.abstract In this experimental study, we used an electrochemical process as a mean of preparing nanocarbon samples. This research shows that there is a possibility to synthesize and elaborate particles in nanostructured carbons form. The synthesized carbon nanoparticles have been characterized by SEM, RAMAN, FTIR and XPS. In the first tests, we used two chemical solutions such as: ultra pure water and methanol with different preparation conditions such as temperature, electrical voltage and preparation time, but unfortunately our results were unsatisfactory. So we changed the chemical solution by using an ethanol product which finally gave us good results. The micrographs obtained by SEM showed spherical carbon nanoparticles (CQDs) with sizes less than 10 nm in the case of 70 V and 30 ° C and during of 42 hours of preparation. RAMAN shows the formation of graphite nanoparticles based on nanocarbons; reduced graphite oxide (rGO) and graphite oxide (GO). The analysis by the RAMAN, FTIR, and the XPS device confirmed the existence of the carbon elemental compositions. The ID / IG ratio has an estimated value of 0.45 for the element of graphite and 0.60 for rGO. After acquiring the nanocarbons, we tried to do a second research for the purpose of doping these nanocarbons with magnesium molecules by using the same elaboration technique and by using the same preparation conditions already used to develop the carbon nanoparticles: one single sample gave us good results with a temperature of 60 ° C and a voltage applied at 70 V for 48 hours of preparation, and after the characterization by RAMAN and EDS we saw the appearance of nanometric elements of carbon and magnesium in our sample. This study has many prospects and objectives to achieve in the field of hydrogen storage in materials with a nanocarbon structure and even in magnesium-carbon alloys.
