This work is based on a phytochemical and biological study of two species of the genus Verbascum namely the endemic species to Algeria Verbascum atlanticum Batt. and the species Verbascum creticum Cav. which has not been the subject of any phytochemical study before. This investigation allowed the isolation and the purification of 20 products by using of several chromatographic techniques (CC, TLC, HPLC), the structures were identified by the different spectral methods (NMR1D and 2D), by the spectrometry of high resolution mass (HR-ESI-MS, LC-UV-MS,) and by comparing literature data. The biological activity is tested by the antioxidant activity on seven tests in vitro namely the DPPH inhibition, ABTS, CUPRAC, reducing power, metal chelating effect, anti-bleaching effect of β-carotene, superoxide alkaline. The effect of the acetylcholinesterase inhibition and butrylcholinesterase, the effect of protection against UVB rays and the antibacterial sensitivity test on the different extracts of the plants studied showed that these species have biological efficacy. |
