dc.description.abstract The objective of this study was to compare the analgesic effects of buprenorphine and butarphanol in combination with ketamine and metometodine during ovary-hysterectomy as well as harmlessness via the cardiac, respiratory and digestive effects in the postoperatively in rabbit. This study was carried out on 15 rabbits ovariohysterectomised. The pain was assessed by monitoring the combination of the clinical parameters (heart rate, respiratory rate, digestive function and temperature), the biochemical parameters (glucose), and then by using a pain grid specific to rabbit. During this study, animals receiving buprenorphine presented a postoperative comfort, slightly higher than butorphanol without significant side effects. Regarding these results, buprenorphine seems to have higher efficiency comparing to butorphanol during surgery inducing moderate pain in rabbits.
