Aromatic compounds containing azo or azoxy functions are widely used in the chemical industry as color pigments, food additives, indicators, initiators of free-radical reactions and therapeutic agents. The treatment of nitroarenes with sodium borohydride in alkaline ethanol in the presence of catalytic amounts of diphenyldiselenide at room temperature leads to the formation of the corresponding azoxyarene compounds through the reaction of nitroarenes with sodium phenylselenide generated in situ. At higher temperature, further reduction to azoarene compounds can take place. A phytochemical study was carried out on the aerial parts of three Algerian medicinal plants: Pelargonium graveolens l'Hér, Lavandula dentata L. collected from the Marechou region (Mila) and the species Arbutus unedo L. collected from the El Milia (Jijel) region, for hydraulic extraction of essential oils (EO), whose compositions were analyzed and identified using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Extraction yields were estimated as follows:
(0.02236%) of the EO obtained from the species P. graveolens L'Hér.( 0.1543%) of the EO obtained from the species L. dentata L. and (0.012%) of the EO obtained from the species A. unedo L., so that the majority molecules isolated are |
